Current Magazine Front Covers...

To give me some inspiration, I looked at existing music magazines on the Internet. I then deconstructed three of them.

My selected Target Audience...research

My target audience will be aimed at 15-25 year olds, particularly women, those who are at college/sixth form, for example. I have chosen to use the magazine title, 'Breakin'Beat', because it doesnt narrow the content, instead it broadens it. For example; if i had called my magazine, 'pure RnB', then this title would only appeal to those who like RnB, whereas with 'Breakin'Beat' you can apply other genres of music that would appeal to the majority of teenagers, between the ages 15-25, e.g. Hip Hop also)
I will consider therefore, in my magazine that I could include other genres of music including; Pop, Rock, Bass, Hip Hop, Garage, RnB etc. I am also going to consider using slang language in my magazine title, reason being, because it makes the magazine sound young and perhaps 'cooler' and I think this would perhaps appeal to my target audience.

Research...

Today I am going to come up with some magazine title names.
for example, I came up with the following;
1.Sound
2.RnB sound
3. Hip Hop Beat
4. Pure Bass
5. Bass Beat
6.Breakin'Beat/ Breakin'down the Beat / Breakin'Da'Beat
7. Classical RnB
8. Pure Hip Hop

However, in order to decide on a particular name, it has to be suitable to your target group and it has to have not been used or having current status as a magazine. so, in order to find out whether my chosen magazine title, 'Breakin'beat' is already being used in the media i had to look at B.R.A.D. By using this catalogue, I found out that my chosen magazine title name was not being used, in fact it hadn't even been created, so this made my magazine title unique and original, which is what i need to do. i now needed to check that my magazine title and genre (the type of content) would actually appeal to my target audience.

My research...

In order to create a new music magazine I needed to research existing media. To do that, I need to look at 3-4 current existing music or other magazines and deconstuct them. I need to deconstruct 3-4 front covers of magazine's and double page spreads and contents pages.

Hi, my name is Christina Spence and I am currently studying AS level in media studies. I am writing a blog of how it is I go about completing my coursework.
My main task is to create a new music magazine front cover, contents page and a double page spread. I am firstly going to research the current market of music magazines for inspiration and then I am going to plan my ideas and of course make them all!!! Lastly I will evaluate.
